Kimmeridge Fossils |
![]() |
Kimmeridge is famous for it's fossils ecspecially ammonites that can be seen exposed on the ledges at low tide. They can be found in the cliffs but are usually very soft and it is not advisable to dig for them because of cliff falls and land erosion. Kimmeridge bay is about 3-4 hours walk from April Thatch or 20 minutes by car when the army ranges are open! Very popular with surfers and wind-surfers along with geologists and fosil hunters. It also has a marine conservation exhibition as well as being one of the first marine conservation areas in the country. Great for swimming, diving and rock pooling.
